Practice & Topic Exam Instructions & Troubleshooting

The Practice and Topic Exams are designed to give the look-and-feel of the boards, thereby offering experience in computerized-test taking as well as discovering areas in your knowledge-base that may need improvement.
The exams function in an identical manner to the NCE; the next question is displayed only after the previous question has been answered. After an answer has been chosen, the response can be submitted by clicking on the 'Next' icon. When necessary, the 'Exhibit' icon will be available to enhance the question, such as when a calculator is needed.
The Practice and Topic Exams require an intact internet connection to function properly and deliver the test questions to your browser. Please follow the troubleshooting tips below if you encounter any difficulty with the exams:

Login Difficulties

• Both your user name and password are case-sensitive. It is important that they be entered exactly as shown.
• Passwords always start with a capital letter. The letters 'O' and 'I' can be easily confused with zero and one. Please be sure the first character of your password is a capital letter.
• Previous logins can result in information remaining in your browser's cache and cookie files that can disrupt the login process. If you receive a message that your login was successful, but your browser did not sent the proper information, please clear the cache and cookies of your browser and reboot your computer.
• The Practice & Topic Exams do NOT run on the Safari browser. If you are using the MAC OS, please download and use the Chrome browser to take the exams.

Exam Difficulties

• Rarely, a question can get 'stuck', report an error or fail to advance despite clicking on the Next button. You can force a question to reload by pressing the 'Esc" key, clicking inside the exam window and then holding the <Ctrl> key and tapping the <R> key once. This will allow you to re-enter your response and advance to the next question.
• If it is necessary to restart your exam for any reason, it is important to clear your browser's cache and cookies prior to re-starting. Questions that have been downloaded incorrectly will remain in your browser's cache and can result in errors later during the exam process.
